2011 Inaugural Delaware River Striper Tournament

Friends who share a love of fishing talked for years about finding a way to combine their passion for the sport with their desire to help others. In 2011, the Delaware River Striper Tournament was born.  For an inaugural event, the State of Pennsylvania limited the tournament to a maximum of 50 boats. Registration sold out quickly and despite the chilly temperatures on March 26, 2011, the turn out was phenomenal.

At the awards ceremony later that day, the first place winner was announced and took home an $800 cash prize. For those anglers not landing the top three fish of the day, 50/50 tickets were sold for chances at cash and the chance to win great door prizes, premier fishing gear, gift cards and more with winning raffle tickets.

In 2011, we raised over $1,500 to make Landon’s dream of a backyard play set come true.

2012 The Second Annual Delaware River Striper Tournament

After the success of the 2011 event, the State of Pennsylvania has increased the boat limit to 100+ for the March 31, 2012 event. The tournament grew to 68 boats with over 200 anglers, so prize money, sponsored door prizes and money raised Make-A-Wish increased as well. The weather was a bit cold but the anglers were not discouraged. First Place prize money increased to $1,000 and we were able to raise $3,000 to help Hanna realize her dream of a Hawaiian family vacation come true.

2013 The Third Annual Delaware River Striper Tournament

The weather cooperated better for the 2013 event. The day started out chilly giving way to a beautiful sunny day. Over 90 boats and 180 anglers enjoyed the day. Many fish were caught and release with 2 coming back to the dock to be weighted. The first place winner took home $1200 for the heaviest fish with an additional $500 from the Calcutta with second place taking home $600.  Once again the dinner with raffles, 50/50 and door prizes was enjoyed by all.

The 2013 event raised over $3,500 to make Christian’s dream of a family fishing vacation come true.
